My purpose as a dyslexia specialist is to build confidence in children by offering an engaging, purpose-driven literacy instruction for struggling readers.
I use the Wilson Reading System, Orton-Gillingham methodology and multi-sensory teaching strategies to teach the five pillars of reading instruction: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. I will craft each lesson to meet your child’s individual needs and all materials will be provided. Sessions will be fun, engaging and just the right amount of challenge.
I will debrief for a few minutes after every session. We’ll discuss what went well, things to continue working on and plans for next time. I will create more formal reports when your child finishes a level.
Your child’s tutoring time is reserved specifically for them and I have created an individualized lesson plan and materials in advance. Please let me know dates your child will be absent as soon as possible. I offer a few options for rescheduling: some Friday and Sunday afternoons, as well as a virtual option using Zoom. We will work together to determine the best option to make up missed days.
If I need to cancel, I will notify you at least 24 hours in advance and you will have the option to reschedule or receive a refund.
We will follow City Schools of Decatur's inclement weather decisions. We can discuss whether tutoring sessions are to be canceled and rescheduled/refunded on any day that City Schools of Decatur cancels school due to inclement weather.
Please carefully review the following to understand the consequences if a student misses a session. To avoid any fees, please provide 24 hour notice to cancel or reschedule a session. I know this isn’t always possible if a child gets sick during the school day.
